Chatterbox Quilts

Welcome to the September Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter! And just like that, we’re into fall! While we’ve still been enjoying lovely days, we’ve already “enjoyed” a few frosty mornings. But with cooler temperatures comes longer days in the studio quilting. What happened this month I’ve been working on a few different things this month. First, I made a baby quilt for one of my daughter’s friends. I had so much fun selecting the various fabrics to use in this “I Spy” quilt. Next I made some jar...

Welcome to the August Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter! I often think of August as the last month of summer but I’m not ready for fall quite yet! I always start my days with exercising and, during the warmer months, I like to exercise on my deck. It gets my body moving and the fresh air (unless there’s smoke that day 💨) helps to get me in the right mental state for the rest of the day. I’m hoping that there are still warm days ahead because so I don’t have to give up my “deck time”. What...

Welcome to the June Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter! I’ve got lots to share with you in today’s email. What happened this month It’s been a month of quilt shows. First I attended a local guild’s quilt show and got a chance to admire their quilts and connect with many of my quilting friends. They have guild challenges and one of them for this year was a denim challenge. So many wonderful ideas – I’m looking at my jeans in a whole new way! They also had a featured quilter, Anne Picciano, and I...

Welcome to the May Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter! Welcome to the end of May – and hopefully the end of snow in Calgary. 🤣 While it may seem strange to have snow at this time of year we did “enjoy” a snowfall during the Victoria Day weekend. Now we can just look forward to warmer weather in June and the large amount of rain that we typically have in that month! ☔️🌧️ What happened this month This month TQW members finished their Spring Hearts project where they learned raw edge appliqué and...

Welcome to the March Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter! Good-bye to winter and hello spring. Well, not exactly in Calgary where we’ve had quite a bit of snow in March but I am keeping my fingers crossed that April is warmer – and that there isn’t any snow!❄️ What happened this month March was busy with presentations to various Canadian quilt guilds. I love sharing quilting ideas with guilds and had the opportunity to do my newest one: Faux Trapunto with several guilds. If you guild is looking for...

Welcome to the February Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter! Can you believe that we are already at the end of February? I’m not sure where the first two months of 2026 have gone but here we are! What happened this month This month I was a guest on the Quilter on Fire podcast with Brandy Maslowski. I always enjoy speaking with Brandy and I even survived the rapid fire questions at the end of the podcast. 😅 If you haven’t yet listened to Episode 245, you can do so here. I also had the opportunity to...

Welcome to the January Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter! We made it! Yes, we survived the first month of 2026. While many of you may’ve been – and still may be – struggling with way too much snow (I hope you’re staying warm and safe) – we’ve had a fairly warm January in Calgary. I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop! 😉❄️☃️ What happened this month To kick off 2026, I hosted the Fabric SOS Challenge. This annual challenge helps quilters get their fabric yardage sorted, organized and stored so it...

Welcome to the November Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter! It’s the end of November already and that means just one more month to go until 2026! I know that it’s been a busy month with Thanksgiving for my American friends and the run up to Christmas for everyone. If you’ve already started making your Christmas gifts, give yourself a big pat on the back. If you’re still in the thinking about it stage, welcome to the group! 😁 What happened this month This month was a particularly fun one for me...

Welcome to the October Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter! Boo! Did I scare you! Yes, it’s Halloween and also the end of October 2025. It’s been a busy month for me with trips and new projects too. What happened this month I travelled to Ontario to see family and fit in some fun activities. For the first time I attended Oktoberfest in Kitchener-Waterloo – so fun! I also had time to visit my parents and help them with some items. And, I did manage to squeeze in a visit to Ye Olde Fabric Shoppe and...

Welcome to the September Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter! It’s official: Fall is here! We’ve been enjoying stunning weather for this time of the year and it’s sometimes difficult to pull myself back into the studio for some quilting but don’t worry, I’ve been working away on new projects to share with you. What happened this month I finished another project as an Island Batik Ambassador. The Threaded Chaos blog hop challenge had a crazy quilt theme and I created blocks using my embroidery...
