Welcome to the November Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter! It’s the end of November already and that means just one more month to go until 2026! I know that it’s been a busy month with Thanksgiving for my American friends and the run up to Christmas for everyone. If you’re still in the thinking about it stage, welcome to the group! 😁 What happened this monthThis month was a particularly fun one for me with Energize! 12.0 happening in The Quilter’s Way. There was so much sharing of information – especially on machine embroidery – as well as members working on their projects. I loved seeing many of the members working on our November/December Strippy Christmas Tree project. This quilt brings techniques we’ve previously learned in TQW: strip pieced blocks, faux trapunto, and raw edge appliqué all together to create a project perfect for the holiday season. My daughter and I attended the Spruce Meadows Christmas Market - one of our favourite holiday traditions to kick off the season. Seeing the reindeer, the holiday decorations and shopping at the vendors made for a perfect day. TipI’ve seen several companies promote a battery-operated seam ripper which makes it much quicker to unpick your stitches (admit it, we all have to do this sometimes 😉) but my favourite tool for this is a simple touch up trimmer. I used one for many years and it makes quick work of this unpleasant task and doesn't cut the fabric even without using the guards that come with it. If you don’t have one of these, I highly recommend that you add one to your tool kit.
