Welcome to the September Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter! And just like that, we’re into fall! While we’ve still been enjoying lovely days, we’ve already “enjoyed” a few frosty mornings. But with cooler temperatures comes longer days in the studio quilting. What happened this monthI’ve been working on a few different things this month. First, I made a baby quilt for one of my daughter’s friends. I had so much fun selecting the various fabrics to use in this “I Spy” quilt. Next I made some jar openers for a friend’s birthday. These are so practical and colourful too. Click here for a tutorial on how to make this easy and helpful project. I also embroidered some napkins for the same friend’s birthday. These are so easy to whip up, taking about 2 minutes for each napkin. And, I kept it easy by purchasing the premade 100% cotton napkins from Amazon so all I had to do was add the embellishment. These napkins are such a nice quality and wash up beautifully. I’ve also been working on something else: a new YouTube channel! Yes, Embroidery Exploration will be “live” on October 1, 2026 and, if you love hand embroidery, whether on its own or combined with quilting, you’ll want to be the first to subscribe! Click here to check out the videos and subscribe (it really helps to ensure that videos on the channel reach others interested in this art). Please share this new channel with your friends who love handwork. It’s always tough to get a new channel up on its feet, so your help in subscribing, liking and commenting on the videos would be so appreciated. Thanks! 🙏🏻 Tip/Recommended ToolsWe were discussing paperless paper piecing using freezer paper in the most recent TQW Hangout. If you haven’t yet tried this technique, it’s a game changer. Best of all, freezer paper has other uses in the studio: small pieces of leftover freezer paper can be used to remove fuzz and threads from your pressing surface (just press down and peel off with the threads attached). It’s also helpful to use when cutting out templates as it can be used repeatedly. If you don’t have freezer paper in your studio, you can purchase it here. YouTube VideosHere are the new videos released in September for your viewing and learning pleasure (just click on the picture). Coming SoonThere are several events coming up in the next few months. First, Creative Spark Online Learning is hosting Quilt Fusion 2026 on November 5, 2026. As always, this online event will be full of helpful quilting information from instructors such as Catherine Redford, Paula Nadelstern, Deborah Boschert and more. The keynote speaker is Timna Tarr and I’m really looking forward to all the learning that will be happening – and the giveaways too – during this virtual event. Click here to save your spot and save $20.00 off the enrolment fee. Remember that if you can’t attend all of the sessions on November 5, all of them will be recorded and you’ll be able to watch them after the event and have indefinite access to all recordings. Mark your calendar for Quilt Fusion 2026 on November 5, 2026! There is another event coming up in November that is super secret for now. 🤐 One thing I can tell you is that I will be involved in this online event and it’s one that you don’t want to miss. Look for more details later in October’s newsletter when I’ll be able to let the cat out of the bag. 🐈⬛🛍️ See you in October! 😁 *Note: I use affiliate links in my emails and, if you click on a link, I will receive a small amount of compensation when you purchase an item.
