Welcome to the February Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter!

Can you believe that we are already at the end of February? I’m not sure where the first two months of 2026 have gone but here we are!

What happened this month

This month I was a guest on the Quilter on Fire podcast with Brandy Maslowski. I always enjoy speaking with Brandy and I even survived the rapid fire questions at the end of the podcast. 😅 If you haven’t yet listened to Episode 245, you can do so here.

I also had the opportunity to speak to several quilt guilds in February sharing information about free motion quilting and also, my newest presentation, on faux trapunto (so much fun!). If your guild or organization is looking for a speaker, these are only two of several ZOOM presentations that I offer. You can find out more about them here.

In The Quilter’s Way, members were working on the Flying Diamonds project, a pattern I designed as an Island Batik Ambassador. This is a great opportunity to learn how to make perfect flying geese and there are lots of options for negative space quilting in this project.

Tip

This tip is for new quilters and comes from one of my TQW members, Caroline. When making your first project, you may find that things aren’t coming together the way you hope they would: uneven seems, different sized blocks, etc. Don’t give up! Continue to finish that project and think of it as a learning experience. Once you’ve finished this first project, know that your next one will be that much better!

In just a few days, on March 3, 2026 at 10:00 am, I’ll be presenting Quilt Blocks, Reimagined where I’ll share ideas on how to give traditional quilt blocks a fresh new look. You need to register for this free online event and you can do so here. There will be a replay but you need to be registered in order to receive that link after the event.

The next day, on March 4, 2026, Embroidery Extravaganza hosted by Creative Spark Online Learning will be happening. This event features presentations by various instructors on hand embroidery and I’m really excited to learn from these amazing teachers.
