Welcome to the September Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter!

Welcome to Fall 2024 or as most quilters refer to it: the start of quilting season!

With temps still quite warm during the day, it’s hard to believe that it’s already the end of September, but I’ll take it!

What happened this month

It was a very busy month in the Chatterbox Quilts’ studio with new YouTube videos (see below) – I went a little crazy with rope projects and there probably will be more to come, a new bootcamp course, and opening the doors to new members in The Quilter’s Way (welcome to all who have joined that amazing membership!) – and some of this happened while I was on vacation in Ontario! 😅

Yes, I was “on vacation” from a bit in Ontario and managed to squeeze in a presentation and a full day class at the Janome Sewing and Learning Centre in Oakville, ON. This was so much fun to do and I’m hoping to do more in-person teaching in 2025.

While I was away from the studio, my new Scrappy Blocks Boot Camp started. How do I manage this, you might wonder? Well, that’s the magic of pre-recording videos and scheduling them. Participants created a 3-block table runner and learned 4 different techniques, included lots of quilt motifs for finishing this quick project. I think the “troops” enjoyed it and I enjoyed seeing their results.

Next, the doors to The Quilter’s Way, my online membership, opened for the last time in 2024. I’m always excited to meet new members and help them in their quilting journey. The next time you’ll be able to join TQW will be in late spring 2025.

I also designed and created a new project for the Island Batik Ambassador Adventurous Appliqué challenge this month. I love being an Island Batik Ambassador as I get to use the latest fabric collections and it challenges me to try different techniques that I might never have had the opportunity to try. You’ll see details of Playful Sunflowers in the YouTube video I released during September 2024.

Whew! I’m still catching my breath and all of this happened during the first two weeks of the month! 😳

Tip

Rather than a quilting tip, I have a “life” tip this month: “Every opportunity isn’t one you should seize and “no” may be the right answer”. I’m sure my hubby wishes that I listened to this tip more often (especially during this month!). 🤣

Recommended Tools

​A water bottle is an important quilting tool (of course you already know about chocolate, right?!). Some of us get so involved in our quilting that we don’t take the time to keep properly hydrated so having a water bottle, rather than a glass of water, will keep you hydrated and keep liquid away from your sewing machine – they don’t play nice together.😉

Coming Soon

One of the first happenings in October 2024 is Energize! 10.0 in The Quilter’s Way from October 4 - 6. This is the second virtual retreat in 2024 and I can hardly wait! Every Energize is unique in that each has a theme – gotta keep this secret for now – and there are tutorials each day. I know that the members are going to have a blast at Energize! 10.0 but, as we always say, “What happens at Energize!, Stays at Energize!”

I’ll be making another project as an Island Batik Ambassador and this month I’ll be using beautiful Island Batik fabric to make a pattern from ByAnnie.com. It’s a little out of my comfort zone but I’m up for the challenge – wish me luck!
