Welcome to the October Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter!

Boo!

Did I scare you! Yes, it’s Halloween and also the end of October 2025. It’s been a busy month for me with trips and new projects too.

What happened this month

I travelled to Ontario to see family and fit in some fun activities. For the first time I attended Oktoberfest in Kitchener-Waterloo – so fun!

I also had time to visit my parents and help them with some items. And, I did manage to squeeze in a visit to Ye Olde Fabric Shoppe and Rheo Thompson Candies in Stratford, ON! Can’t miss both of these stores when in the area. 😉

Back to Calgary and then on to Saskatoon in less than a week for the Saskatoon Quilters’ Guild show.

This is such a great show with amazing quilts, a guild store (so many goodies!), and lots of vendors (where I happened to pick up just a few things!).

Here are some of the quilts from the show which featured Debora Barlow as the featured quilter.

I also got the chance to chat with friends like Brandy Maslowski from Quilter on Fire podcast.

and Tara Sinclair from Uh-Oh Creations who was debuting her new Jack sling pack pattern.

Then it was back home to continue work on Island Batik Ambassador projects and a new project for TQW members!

Tip

Okay, here’s a tip for shopping at quilt shows: save your back and get a shopping trolley! It’s not a studio tool but essential for shopping at shows. One of my girlfriends bought me one a few years ago and it’s essential when hitting the vendor area! Check out this one that is collapsible and can be carried or rolled. You don’t want to miss out on getting that perfect kit or fabric bundle because it’s too heavy to carry around the show. 😉
