Welcome to the October Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter!

Happy Halloween! 🎃 While you’re celebrating with way too much small-sized candy bars, keep the following in mind:

What happened this month

Just a few weeks ago, I hosted Energize! 10.0 in The Quilter’s Way. This was the second virtual retreat that TQW members enjoyed in 2024 as a perk of being a TQW member. Lots of fun and laughs as always and I think it’s going to be awhile before I live down my disco outfit from the Friday night cocktail party. Thank goodness that “what happens at Energize!, stays at Energize!” 🤣

I stepped into the world of bagmaking! I made the Ditty Bags 2.0 project for the “What’s in Your Bag?” challenge as an Island Batik Ambassador. It turned out very well and I really appreciated all the helpful information and videos that are provided by ByAnnie.com. Thanks to ByAnnie.com for providing everything required to make this project. Another bag project might just be in my future. 😉

Tip

This is nothing to do with quilting but all about travelling to foreign countries – where I’m at right now as you read this! Check on what vaccinations are recommended well in advance of your departure date and get those shots! In Canada, you can consult with a pharmacist at Shopper’s Drug Mart and they will recommend and provide the inoculations for you. Don’t leave it too late or you will be getting way more pokes than you anticipated 💉 – ask me how I know! 😳

Recommended Tools

One of the TQW members shared a helpful tool during Energize! 10.0. If you’ve ever experienced your bobbin thread getting into a bird’s nest and had to cut away the threads underneath your fabric – whether you’re quilting or doing machine embroidery (it happened to me!) – you know how tough it can be to get in this area. Madam Sew has a Bird’s Nest Untangling Tool Kit that is perfect to rectify this situation.

Coming Soon

It’s only a few weeks until Quilt Fusion 2024 is happening on November 15, 2024. This virtual event hosted by Creative Spark Online is going to be a not-to-be-missed event! There are so many amazing teachers who will be live sharing helpful information with you and…all of the presentations are recorded so you’ll be able to watch and rewatch them after the event.

I love these online events and am especially excited about this one as I’ll be one of the teachers! I’ll be sharing information on how to give new life to the traditional Dresden Plate block. You can still register for the event – and save $20.00 off the registration fee – by clicking here.

Did you know that I am available for online or in-person presentations and workshops? I’m booking presentations and workshops into 2025 now so if you belong to a guild and are looking for an in-person on virtual presentation, please reach out to me at kim@chatterboxquilts.com.

Take care,

Kim
