Chatterbox Quilts News for November 2024

Welcome to the November Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter!

Have you recovered yet…from Black Friday sales? 🧾 From Thanksgiving feasting? 🦃From Christmas decorating? 🎄Okay, maybe you haven’t even started on that last one but it’s that time of year when most of us are super busy getting ready for THE BIG DAY. As a procraftinator I have to admit that I haven’t even started my holiday gift creating but I have a list (does that count?!).

What happened this month

It was a very busy month for me as I was on vacation for several weeks and then had to play catch up for a few more weeks in November. I think I’m finally caught up (?) but now I’m deep into planning for 2025 and there are several business changes that I’ll be making…but more on those in another email.

When I was away, I spent a few days in London, UK and, of course, visited Liberty. Here are a few snaps of some of what I saw in that amazing shop!

Tip

Clean those bits of fabric and thread from your pressing surface with freezer paper. Use an iron to press the freezer paper to your pressing area (shiny side down) and then peel it back and you’ll have a pristine surface again. Even better: you can reuse the freezer paper multiple times.

Recommended Tools

I’ve found that the DIY quilt block design boards that I’ve created are so helpful in laying out block designs as well as carrying them to the sewing machine for piecing. It’s easy to make your own design boards with some cardboard (Amazon boxes, anyone?) and fabric. I’ve even made a really large one to accommodate bigger blocks. You can get all the details here.

Coming Soon

Next month I’ll be sharing the project that I’m making as an Island Batik Ambassador. For December we can create anything we want with their stunning fabrics and I’ve already gathered my fabrics and am starting my design.

In The Quilter’s Way, I’ll be hosting the annual Christmas party and I’ve already got my wardrobe for the day selected – now to get my studio decorated and ready for that event. I always look forward to this event as it’s the perfect way to celebrate all that the members have learned and shared this year. Not a member yet? Take care,
