Welcome to the August Chatterbox Quilts’ newsletter! It’s the end of August and the end of summer…maybe. We’ve been enjoying beautiful summer weather here in Calgary with warm temps continuing into September. But, with the advent of fall comes the start of quilting season (at least in my mind). It’s time to get back into the studio and start planning projects for fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and no, I’m not even going to mention the “C” holiday! 🤣 What happened this monthI finished the Island Batik Ambassador Hot Stuff challenge to decorate the small carry bag for the Oliso M3 Pro Project iron. I chose to used hand embroidery, appliqué, and even some fun buttons to decorate the small carry bag. It was such a fun and creative challenge and you can see all of the other Island Batik Ambassador projects on my Chatterbox Quilts’ Facebook page. Last month TQW members did the Fabric SOS Challenge to get their fabric yardage organized. This month, they completed the Wrangle Your Scraps Challenge to get their fabric scraps wrangled and corralled. These are both such popular challenges and are included FREE for The Quilter’s Way members. It was amazing to see the newly and neatly organized shelves of fabric and many members commented on thrilled they were with their success. Thanks so much for supporting Chatterbox Quilts’ when you shop. ❤️ Recommended ToolsThe Madam Sew Bird’s Nest Untangling toolkit is my newest machine embroidery must-have tool. I had the opportunity to use it while stitching a recent machine embroidery project. While it was unfortunate that I needed to use it, I was glad that it made removing the nest of thread under my hoop very easy without any damage to the project. You can find this helpful tool here. YouTube VideosHere are the new videos released in August for your viewing and learning pleasure (just click on the picture). Coming SoonLayered and Stitched 2025 hosted by Creative Spark Online Learning is happening on September 12, 2025. No problem – all of the presentations are recorded and available to you after the event. Click here to save $20.00 off the enrolment fee. I’m up for the challenge: another Island Batik Ambassador challenge featuring their newest fabric collections is happening in September. I’ll have the opportunity to use some of my hand embroidery skills or the decorative stitches on my Janome CM17 for this one as well as some embellishments. Keep watching my Chatterbox Quilts’ YouTube channeland my Facebook page for this project in September. In The Quilter’s Way, members are starting a new project: crazy quilts! They’ll be creating their own personal project and learning different methods for making this “perfect for scraps” quilt. If you’d like to join us – and use up some of your fabric scraps – click here. Take care, Kim P.S.
